Transrectal Ultrasonographic Findings of BPH

Abstract
Authors reviewed ultrasonograms and pathologic findings of 51 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) proved by transurethral resection of prostate(TUR-R).
The common ultrasonographic findings of BPH were symmetrical enlargement of the prostate(94%) and centrally located isoechoic(45%) or hypoechoic(41%)nodules with clear margin(73%), calcifications (61%), and cyst formations (39%).
There is no significant relationship between the echogenecity of nodules or diffuse enlargement of the prostate and pathologic types of BPH.
